Primary Purpose:
Responsible for receiving, verifying, and processing all incoming shipments, ensuring materials are accurately documented, inspected, stored, and distributed to the appropriate locations. Supports warehouse operations through material put-away and organization, and warehouse housekeeping activities.
Receiving and Verification
- Receive all incoming shipments and deliveries.
- Verify received materials against purchase orders, packing slips, and delivery documents.
- Inspect shipments for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report issues promptly to the Receiving office.
- Accurately record receipt of materials on shipment checklist.
- Ensure all received materials are properly labeled with the received date and identified.
- Safely unload shipments using appropriate material handling equipment.
- Transport materials to designated storage locations.
- Complete put-away activities in accordance with warehouse storage procedures.
- Ensure materials are stored securely and efficiently to maximize warehouse space utilization.
- Stack and organize materials in designated warehouse locations.
- Maintain accurate material locations and identification.
- Ensure aisles, storage areas, and workspaces remain organized, clean, and free of hazards.
- Assist with material movements, stocking, replenishment, and warehouse organization activities.
- Support general warehouse operations during periods of low receiving activity.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards throughout the warehouse and receiving areas.0
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and safe work practices.
- Assist with other warehouse-related duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
- Receive and verify special-order materials for various departments.
- Coordinate and deliver special-order items to the requesting departments in a timely manner.
- Obtain confirmation of delivery (POD) for record.
- Communicate with department personnel regarding incoming deliveries and material availability.
- Operate Counterbalance forklift, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently (certified).
- Conduct pre-use inspections of equipment and report any deficiencies.
- 3+ years experience in receiving.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Experience working in a production facility is an asset.
- Skilled with computer applications used in the shipping/receiving process.
- Basic math and recording abilities.
- Knowledge of waybills and bills of landing.
- Highly skilled with methods of weight measurement and verification.
- Communicate effectively in English both verbal and written.
- The ability to move around the plant floor and maneuver materials and equipment.
- Skilled with all equipment used in inventory movement.
- Ability to multitask, organize your time and meet multiple deadlines.
- Comfortable with high volume workload with the ability to 'roll up your sleeves" and jump in.
- Strong work ethic, action oriented and desire to achieve excellence.
- High comfort level working in a fast-paced team environment that is constantly changing.
- Pressure to produce tangible results and complete projects within tight timelines.
- Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
- Willing to learn new things and take initiative to ask questions.
- Lifting and/or carrying anywhere from 0 lbs to 50 lbs.
- Work in a production facility.
- Repetitive movements and work.
- Standing for extended periods.
- Involves sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping on a regular basis.
- Walking near to heavy tool and moving machinery.
- Exposure to all types of weather conditions, and dirt, dust and noise.
- Flexibility in scheduling depending on production demands - able to work day &/or evening shift.
