- Have good knowledge of the operation of equipment and use of hand tools used in Receiving.
- Load, unload and move products or materials by hand or with basic material handling equipment.
- Ensure current knowledge and compliance with all safety requirements and with each piece of equipment operated.
- Operate equipment and using hand tools in the shipping and receiving of product.
- Track inventory levels and report any shortages to the Receiving Supervisor in advance when material is low.
- Demonstrate awareness of proper warehouse and production safety procedures.
- Ensure your safety and the safety of your coworkers by using the required personal protective equipment and adhere to all safety & injury prevention policies and procedures.
- Follow all loss prevention policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the continuous improvement team, and always look for improved ways of performing your duties.
- Identify and demonstrate use of personal protective equipment.
- Keep work area free from clutter, recycling waste, and removing all dust daily.
- Report all activities and hazards that may create an unsafe work environment.
- Some experience working in a production facility would be an asset.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications used in the shipping/receiving process.
- Basic math and recording abilities.
- Knowledge of waybills and bills of landing.
- Knowledge of methods of weight measurement and verification.
- Communicate effectively in English both verbal and written.
- The ability to move around the plant floor and maneuver materials and equipment.
- Ability to multitask, organize your time and meet multiple deadlines.
- Comfortable with high volume workload with the ability to "roll up your sleeves" and jump in.
- Strong work ethic, action oriented and desire to achieve excellence.
- High comfort level working in a fast-paced team environment that is constantly changing.
- Pressure to produce tangible results and complete projects within tight timelines.
- Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
- Willing to lean new things and take initiative to ask questions.
Working Conditions
- Lifting and/or carrying anywhere from 0 llbs to 100 llbs.
- Work in a production facility.
- Repetitive movements and work.
- Standing for extended periods.
- Involves sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping on a regular basis.
- Walking near to heavy tool and moving machinery.
- Exposure to all types of weather conditions, and dirt, dust and noise.
- Flexibility in scheduling depending on production demands – able to work day &/or evening shift.
- Opportunity for overtime on short notice due to operational needs.
