Position Overview
Durabuilt Windows and Doors is a rapidly growing Canadian manufacturing leader. As we continue to expand our operational footprint and product offerings, we are evolving our HR function into a strategic leadership pillar. We are seeking a Vice President, Human Resources (or VP of People) to join our executive team and align our people strategy directly with operational performance and sustainable growth.Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), you will lead a team of approximately seven HR professionals and serve as a critical partner to the CEO and executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Serve as a business partner to the executive team, evolving HR from operational support to a strategic function aligned with business objectives.
- Leadership Development: Build a robust leadership bench by establishing structured development programs for emerging leaders, supervisors, and senior managers.
- Performance & Accountability: Introduce consistent performance management practices and clarify management accountability across all operational and corporate teams.
- Organizational Infrastructure: Modernize people systems through technology and digital tools to improve efficiency and workforce insights.
- Talent & Succession: Implement succession planning for critical roles and strengthen recruitment systems to support a workforce of 850–900+ employees.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Finance on compensation, total rewards, and workforce planning, and support Operations in reinforcing safety leadership.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a driver who thrives in complex operational environments and possesses strong financial acumen.Qualifications & Experience:
- Industry Expertise: Extensive senior HR leadership experience in manufacturing, construction, distribution, or similar industrial sectors.
- Scaling Experience: Proven track record supporting organizations with 500 to 1,500 employees through stages of significant growth.
- Executive Presence: Experience working directly with C-Suite leaders (CEO & COO) to guide organizational design and strategic planning.
- Business Acumen: Ability to interpret workforce data, labour costs, and financial metrics to inform strategy and improve profitability.
- Change Management: Demonstrated success in implementing scalable HR processes, talent acquisition strategies, and succession frameworks.
